We are excited to announce that construction of the new Waddy Centre is underway and estimated to be completed in October, 2023.
The Waddy Centre, named after esteemed alumnus The Honourable Justice Lloyd Waddy AM, will provide St Paul’s students the opportunity to explore and expand their experience of theatre, music, fitness and sporting activities.
It will include a versatile 280 seat performance space, with foyer and bar, as well as three music rooms, an expansion of the existing gym and a multipurpose studio, we are truly looking forward to listening to music rehearsals, watching our sporting teams grow in confidence and seeing theatre productions come to life in this space.
Your support is vital in helping us complete the Waddy Centre. A donation provides a rare opportunity for you and your family to become a part of St Paul’s history. All donations will be acknowledged on our Donor Board, to be displayed in the foyer area of the Waddy Centre. All donations are tax deductable.
Music, drama, dance, oration are all included in the Palladian cultural competition between the colleges. This tradition of the performing arts and as well as debating and poetry have been part of the life of St Paul’s for its whole existence. Any alumni who was involved in drama knows of the wonderful experience of performing in or witnessing the work of Mummers for over seven decades and more recently the Impresarios of Graduate House.
But ‘performance’ includes movement, aerobics, mobility, fitness and strength training. The College has had a gym for the last decade and since the fit out of the Tag Family Gym in 2019 has had one of the best fitness centres in any of the colleges.
These activities are to be given a new life withy the building of the new Waddy Performance Centre. It will become a facility that is unrivalled on the university campus.
